I live in Canada with my beloved husband, and our fur-babies. I spend most of my time reading and reviewing books. I began reading at a very early age thanks to my mum who taught me to read long before I went to school. She also supplied me with countless books of my very own and really nurtured my passion for reading. For that, I will always be grateful. I have been addicted to reading ever since and books probably rate higher than food and water in my priorities when it comes to necessities for life. I think the local library saw more of me as a child than my own family did and I am still so very grateful to the librarians who didn't kick me out of the adult section when I had finished reading books suitable for my own age.
I got into book reviewing when I stumbled across a publisher program that provided advance review copies of books and only asked for the reader's opinion in return. The Harper Collins First Look Program got me hooked on reading more avidly again. Cory Beatty from Harper Collins Canada had asked me if I had a blog and until then, I really hadn't known anything at all about blogs. With his encouragement, I created The Literary Word and have never looked back! Thank you to Cory and Harper Collins Canada for getting me started, and a huge thanks also to the many publishers, publicists, authors, and illustrators who provide me with books and in doing so, help this blog to blossom constantly. Thank you also to those of you who take the time to read the reviews, and even comment with your own opinions. I love meeting fellow bookworms and I am blessed to be able to spend so much time doing something I really love.
I look forward to helping you discover the great books that are available today and I do hope that you will take the time to share your comments on books that I review here. I especially like to see your views on the titles if you have read them too.
Thank you for reading
Char
